BLCU Art Troupe’s Performance Tour of the Confucius Institute at the University of the Bahamas

To celebrate the “Global Confucius Institute Day”, the 68th anniversary of the PRC and the Chinese Mid-Term Festival, the Beijing Language and Culture Troupe (BLCU) made a performance tour of the Confucius Institute at the University of the Bahamas (UB) on Sept 30, and presented a grandiose show of singing and dancing art for over 400 UB students and teachers and other members of the Bahamian Community.

Mr. Huang Qinguo, Chinese ambassador to the Bahamas and Dr. Linda Davis, vice president and provost of the University of the Bahamas attended the performance and gave brief speeches. The theme of the performance is “Silk Road, Impression of Civilization”. The programs include: the solo dance, “Flying Apsarsa”, Kunqu, :Zhaojun Goes Beyond the Great Wall as a Bride” Excerpt, Erhu Solo, “The Grapes are Ripe in Turpan”, Morin Huur Quartet, “Wind on the Prairie”, Solo Dance, “Rebound Pipa”, Humai Group, “The Ode to Heroes”, Mongolian Long Tune, “Brown Eagle”, etc. The Performance narrates the story of the “Silk Road” with exquisite singing and dancing for the Bahamian audiences. The whole performance was made in a lively atmosphere. The splendid show by the Chinese artists won bursts of applauses from the audience who were deeply enthralled by the charm of superb Chinese performing art. Finally, the performance concluded successfully in the tune of the Moring Huur Ensemble, “Ten Thousand Horses Galloping Ahead”. 

The performance which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between the People’ s Republic of China and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, displayed the unique glamour of Chinese culture and art, and further enhanced the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
