The Confucius Institute at University of the Bahamas Participated in the “Open House Day” of the University

On the morning of March 8, University of the Bahamas held a grand “Open House Day” which saw thousands of high school students and their teachers and parents coming to the campus for a visit.

The Confucius Institute of the Bahamas also set up its exhibition booth in this major event. The Confucius Institute booth decorated with Chinese lanterns, Chinese knots and spring couplets showcased ancient Chinese stationery set (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper), panda dolls in traditional Chinese garments, “Fuwa” dolls, traditional handmade Chinese kite, Peking Opera face mask, ancient Chinese bamboo slips for writing and other various samples of Chinese culture. They attracted throngs of young students to the Confucius Institute booth for close observation. The Chinese faculty of the Confucius Institute cordially explained to them about the Chinese cultural samples and introduced the various services offered by the Confucius Institute at University of the Bahamas, such as mandarin courses, Chinese culture experience summer tour of China, standardized Chinese proficiency tests and application for Confucius Scholarship, and encouraged them to actively learn Chinese language and explore Chinese culture.

This event help more and more Bahamian high school students to know about the Confucius Institute and develop a keen interest in Chinese language and culture.
