From Oct. 14, to Oct. 15 2017 the 22th International Festival of the Bahamas, a grand event organized by the Foreign Ministry of the Bahamas was held in the Bahamian National Botanical Garden. The International Festival of the Bahamas is held annually with the purpose of promoting the friendship and mutual understanding between the Bahamian people and various international organizations and ethnic communities and providing a forum to exhibit the unique cultures of different countries and facilitating international trade. It is also an important festival which attracts numerous visitors from around the world.
As in the previous years, the Confucius Institute at the University of the Bahamas participated in this year’s event under the unified coordination by the Chinese Embassy in the Bahamas. At the booth of the Confucius Institute, the Chinese faculty exhibited and introduced a variety of Mandarin course books such as “HSK Standard Mandarin Course”, “A New Practical Mandarin course”, “New Concept Chinese”, “Happy Chinese”, “I Love Learning Chinese”, “Monkey King Chinese for Young Children”. They also passed out carefully-designed Confucius Institute Fliers, introduced the various Chinese courses, Chinese Cultural Experience Summer Camp, and Confucius Institute Scholarship and other programs offered by the Confucius Institute and answered inquiries about learning of Chinese language and Chinese Culture. This event helped expand the influence of the Confucius Institute, advance the spread of Chinese language and culture in the Bahamas and strengthen the understanding and friendship between the peoples of the Bahamas and China.
